Our Story
The Bakers Grimm
Classic tales are shaped by hard work and the promise of a happy ending.
Bakers Grimm was founded by Delmar and Carla Crim in Delhi, New York, in 2019, at a time when simple, wholesome foods were becoming increasingly expensive and harder to access. Looking to put their skills to use and build meaningful connections, they began by offering bread at local farmers’ markets.
Delmar’s path to baking began long before Bakers Grimm. Trained at the Culinary Institute of America, he spent years working in professional kitchens before being pulled, as so many chefs are, from the line into management. With the bakery, his focus returned to food itself—first bread and pastry, then simple, elegant lunch offerings like soups and sandwiches—made daily, by hand, for his community.
Though not a culinarian, Carla brings the whimsy to the bakery. From providing fresh vegetables and flowers from her garden to creating over-the-top holiday displays, her contributions help ensure a lighthearted and welcoming atmosphere. She also takes on many of the not-so-fun but essential business tasks. With an eclectic background that includes scientific research, sewing pattern design, and community horticulture, she helps weave the structure that allows Bakers Grimm to operate sustainably and intentionally.
Together, Carla and Delmar built Bakers Grimm as a family endeavor—often joined by their son Louis at markets and events—turning early mornings and hard work into something shared. The name may nod to old stories and an ancestral family name, but the values behind it are timeless: honesty, care, and respect for craft.
At Bakers Grimm, we bake in small batches using organic flour and thoughtfully chosen ingredients. We favor tradition over trends and integrity over shortcuts, creating breads and lunch offerings meant to be everyday food—affordable, nourishing, and quietly special.
Like all good fairytales, ours is still being written—one loaf, one pastry, one early morning at a time. We’re glad you’re part of it.
